You is kind, You is smart, You is important

Movie review of The Help

I am sure this is going to win some oscars.
Central character of Abiridin is Ms Miller from "Doubt", where in her small role she outshone everyone.

In this movie she is a narrator. I liked the movie because

1. period drama, costumes and music and social norms captured beautifully
2. Job of Nanny was upgraded to something where they make children confident. Skeeter has memories of her nanny giving her emotional support when she is not picked at PROM and similarly the you kid moleby is made to feel important by his nanny. A very good depiction of child psychology
3. But daughter of Miny, Sugar who is forced out of school into job represents what goes wrong with black kids who are hard working
4.Separate church , separate restaurant, separate club... it reminded me of once prevalent untouchable in India. West never stops of lecturing us on unapproachability but we had that more as a tradition, we could eat food grown by their lab-our and could make them produce goods for us but could not involve them in actual cooking of food or religious rites
5. Here the hypocrisy goes a step further, they are allowed in kitchen, actually tend for kids but are still socially segregated and this is done by educated prosperous people in 1960s
6. I think is this movie is both feminist and anti feminist. After having seen saas bahu culture and preference for male kids in Indian society, I have come to believe that many times females oppress female with or without opposition from males. In this movie also white females of South town mistreat their nannies not physically or economically but emotionally.
7. British India has lost of Nannie or ayahs as they were called.I am surprised there is no literature on their point of view
8. Civil rights movement is just a backdrop to the movie
9. Lead authoress, her publisher, her mom who was ex beauty queen, the lady who lives in a mansion out of town all are confident women who have charted their own course in life
10.Males do not have much screen presence and are essentially prop

movie review : real steel

a typical underdog movie, effort to gain long lost glory by past hero, father bonding with son, father living his dreams via sun, a girl trying to save his dad's business, vengeful corporates, underground culture of honor but less money and public' hero (occupy wall street??) all these combined with best special effects and kinetics

this is one of the first movies where robots are neither inhuman like machines not frightening. though there are plot holes that how something from junk was so good which even modern robots were not or how an all winning robot had processing power to learn tactics of its opponents instantaneously but not enough battery!!! how can court give custody to an absentee broke care less father compared to doting rich aunt but at the end of day enjoyable pure Steven Spielberg magic
